Breaking Barriers (detail 1)

Clockwise from top right: a middle-aged woman in a white blouse and black hat holds a white, green and purple pamphlet in front of her. Beneath her a group of women in flowing garments dance in a ring. To their left, in a rose-tinted hue we see an Edwardian woman with big hair crowned by a red rose in full bloom. In front of her floats a poster calling for 'votes for women'. In the top left an enamel cruciform badge with four purple petal-like shapes encloses a green ring which encloses a white disc with WSPU 1913 printed on it in green. At the top center, a blonde-haired middle-aged woman smiles broadly. She is wearing a similar outfit to the first woman described.
