7 May 2014

Attitude is Everything improves Deaf and disabled people's access to live music by working in partnership with audiences, artists and the music industry. The organisation is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Patron.

Lord Tim Clement-Jones is the London Managing Partner of  DLA Piper and Chairman of its China and Middle East desks. A communications professional and a solicitor, Tim was Group Company Secretary and Legal Adviser of Kingfisher Plc from 1986 until 1995, where he coordinated Kingfisher's contribution to the Shopping Hours Reform Campaign which led to the Sunday Trading Act 1993.  Before Kingfisher, Tim held senior legal positions at Grand Metropolitan and London Weekend Television.

In 1998, Tim was made life peer and until July 2004 was the Liberal Democrat Health Spokesman.  Thereafter until the General Election in 2010 he was Liberal Democrat Spokesman on Culture, Media and Sport in the House of Lords. Tim was Chairman of the Liberal Party from 1986 to 1988 and Treasurer of the Liberal Democrats from 2005 to 2010.

He is a Member of the House of Lords Communications Select Committee; Chairman of the Lib Dems in Communications; Deputy Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on China and Vice Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Turkey and the UAE and Ovarian Cancer.  He is an Icebreaker fellow and Vice President of the 48 Group Club.

Tim is Honorary President of Ambitious About Autism (formerly known as Treehouse), the autism education charity; a Member of the Council of University College London; on the advisory Board of the College of Medicine; a Trustee of the Barbican Centre Trust; Council Member of Heart of the City and an official Ambassador of Barts Charity.

Lord Clement-Jones CBE says:

"I support Attitude is Everything because they work to promote that most life enhancing of goals, greater access to live music. As the originator of the Live Music Act 2012 which cut the red tape for live music performance in small venues I am passionate about the value in our lives of live music and applaud the work that AiE is doing."

Suzanne Bull MBE, Chief Executive Officer, Attitude is Everything says:

“I am absolutely delighted that Lord Clement-Jones has agreed to be one of our Patrons.  I have seen his passion for improving opportunities to live music first-hand and I have no doubt that his support will enable Attitude is Everything to further realise our ambitions in making access a condition of license.”

Lord Clement-Jones CBE joins Attitude is Everything Patrons Mat Fraser, Robert Wyatt, Susan Hedges, Alan McGee, Blaine Harrison, Amadou and Mariam, Drugstore and Paul Maynard MP who all have a very personal connection to the vision and values of our organisation.
